Let It Go

"I realize there’s something incredibly honest about trees in winter, how they’re experts at letting things go."~Jeffrey McDaniel

And here I am, in that part of the bleak winter where I always have to hang on and remind myself that spring is on its way. When the winter blues try and settle in, I have to consciously remind myself to not let them take over...to let the melancholy feelings go on their way while I keep myself busy with things that nurture my mind and spirit. We're on our fourth day straight of damp fog, gray clouds, and cold rain...I'm in desperate need of sunshine! I did catch some pretty shots of some rain clouds that blew through last week during a strangely mild day...they came so quickly and were gone within about 10 minutes. The colors of the sky were so pretty against the bare trees.

  1. You and me both...this has been an odd winter for me, or maybe I just don't have a good memory! lol It's been so cold and dreary for us here on the coast...but, alas the sun has come out today! I've only seen it once or twice in a month! OH HaPPy DaY!! :)

  3. Lovely warm light you have captured. :)
I keep trying to remind myself that spring is on its way... but in 2012 we didn't have a real spring or summer, the weather has been just rubbish for 12+ months... and this winter is so much harder to enjoy the wet dark weather.

  4. Beautiful shots Sherri! It is hard to find subjects of interest in the dreary winter days! Good reflection time though! Have a wonderful week!

  6. Hang in there the sun will come back. We have had a lot of gray days here in Michigan too! I just look at it as good light to go out shooting in. Today is super windy though, so my self-portrait session I had planned was a bust.

  9. Oh Sherri. Hang in there. I mean, Groundhog's Day is soon. And then VD. (Well as long as you don't get stuck perpetually in Groundhog Day, a la Bill Murray.) And then March. And March is never winter, no matter how cold a day might be.
