Always try to keep a patch of sky above your life. ~Marcel Proust, "Swann’s Way"
Fleeting, beautiful, bittersweet, fading...these are the words I think of when looking at this photo I took on Sunday. My daughter has moved back to campus after being home for the summer - seeing her happiness at being back with her besties is wonderful. Dealing with my own feelings of missing her are always tough for the first couple weeks, and I feel a bit melancholy. The dreamy clouds and last flowers of August are bittersweet...summer is almost over. Acorns are suddenly everywhere on the ground, and random leaves of brilliant yellow and red are laying, fallen, in the grass...a hint of things to come. Both life and nature move forward, evolving...ever changing.
This is the best photo I could come up for Texture Tuesday - I haven't picked up a camera much these last couple of weeks. I hope to get back on track during September - the fall colors will start soon and I really look forward to it. Thank you for stopping by!
P.S. Oh wow, right after I posted this, I realized that I misinterpreted this week's Texture Tuesday...I was thinking "free and easy" was the week for posting anything, even a photo without texture. So that's what I did...now I see that next week's "anything goes" is the no texture option. My apologies - I have nothing else to replace it right now so I hope this is OK. As you can see, I'm too distracted and preoccupied this week! Gah.
What a gorgeous photo! Nice use of the texture!
ReplyDeleteThat's ok Sherri. You have had a rough couple of weeks. It is so nice to have them home, but it is so hard to have them leave. Hang in there :)
ReplyDeleteSo pretty!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot, I hope you´ll feel better soon. Beautiful blog, I will follow you
ReplyDeleteIt is hard when the house is quite again. Lovely photo and work.
ReplyDeleteYou will get back in the groove... just takes a bit of time. Maybe you should write one of your amazing poems! Empty nest is tough, but believe me, it does get better over time. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo. I did the same thing. I thought it was free and easy - anything goes!! Oh well.....
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photo. The summer does go so fast doesn't it? School starts next week for my daughter and I always have the same transition feelings at the start of term, even thought she comes home every afternoon!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors of fall (and of course, the football!), but hate to see summer go only because I know come December and January I will be missing it so.
ReplyDeleteAnd home will always be home. I am sure your daughter misses it.
