I'm having a creative slump this past week. No matter what I've attempted to process with PSE, I've felt deeply dissatisfied. Have you ever had one of those weeks? I sure hope it passes soon! My iphone has saved me, letting me at least dabble with my images and satisfy a little bit of creativity.

I thought I'd share some iPhone images where one of my favorite apps, "DistressedFX", was used in the editing process (click HERE to see more info). This app is fantastic - it adds gorgeous textures and overlays to your phone images, and gives them a distressed, painterly effect. The textures were created by Cheryl Tarrant, an artist from Tennessee. They work especially well with landscapes. It's a very easy app to use and you can adjust the opacity of the textures (and also the contrast, brightness, and saturation). It has blur effect options also. I highly recommend it! It costs $0.99. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

NOTE: In the table/chairs image and the house with columns image, I combined DistressedFX with Glaze, another painterly app (click HERE). It's a wonderful combination that I use often!

  1. You are not alone in your slump. Your post gave me a great idea for Walk and Click.

  3. Hi Sherry, I love this app too. I've noticed that since I've played more on my apps lately it has made me more dissatisfied with photoshop edits. Hmmmmm the phone just makes it much faster to get such awesome results. Yep, there's another feather in the cap of instant gratification.

  5. I hate seeing your work here, because it means that I need one more app. You are getting me in trouble one more time.
Actually, of course I am saying that i think these are really cool looking, and glad you have your iphone for fun when you are in a slump! Really cool stuff for being in a slump! Now off to get that app!

  7. You really pushed the buttons on this app, creating some truly gorgeous images. I love them all. It is pretty fun, when it is yucky outside to be able to sit down in a comfy chair and work magic on previous shots.....Although I have this app, I definitely need to work more at it. I have the same app, but need to explore it more!!! Ah, TIME the elusive ingredient in life.

  8. Your iPhone images are consistently among the best, Sherri! Mine suck, I need to go back through your earlier posts where you explain which apps you use. They are just great!
