Flower Power
It was such a welcome change to work on this flower image and see so much beautiful color for a change...this endless winter landscape is so gray and drab that it's seeping into my spirit. Every blog post I write lately is about my melancholy, winter state of mind - I apologize for sounding whiny! This weekend the time changes and that always helps: more daylight in the evenings. Just a few more weeks and April will be here...
This was a flower I photographed at Disney World in January. I used Bonnie's "spring light canvas" texture and also played around with the cutout artistic effect in Photoshop. I then put my image through Radlab until I was happy with how it looked.
Flowers are those little colorful beacons of the sun from which we get sunshine when dark, somber skies blanket our thoughts. ~Dodinsky

Love your processing here Sherri! I was just coming to "look for you" when i see your post here on my reader. Bet you had a wonderful time in Florida, and how exciting to have closed on your retirement home. Is it close enough for you to visit frequently??? HOpe so. I agree that this winter weather is very taxing. I am so ready for spring, and I shouldn't complain as it is much better in Texas than so many places weather wise. Would love to hear more about your retirement home! Very exciting stuff
ReplyDeleteSuch a great effect Sherri, so much depth and wonderful color! And do we really change our clocks back already...I think I might have forgotten! :)
ReplyDeleteStunning. Valerie
ReplyDeleteNeat!!!
ReplyDeleteReally love the colorfulness of your photo. Helps with the Spring mood here too. We've had more winter than I like...not accustom to it after the mild ones we've had lately. We've been so lazy and all we want to do is eat. Boredom. Enjoyed my visit. Happy March. Nice abstract. :)
ReplyDeleteJust exquisite! Spring will be SO welcome. Hope all the appreciation and awe for your artistry cheer you a bit. Take care Sherri.
ReplyDeleteI think your editing is superb and I love along with all of the refreshing color the way the focal point just seems to draw me in. I have refused to get melancholy over this winter. I have a little dog who loves the snow, so I follow her lead and try to have fun with it. It is a good thing because we have had far more winter than we are used to. Like everyone else, I am looking forward to some warmer weather and sunshine. Lovely post, Sherri ...
